For the last week or so I've been in a "handy" kind of mood. I've been wanting to make a new headboard for our room, so I did. I measured and cut a piece of plywood, covered it with foam and batting, then covered it with fabric. I covered a few buttons and then also put them on the headboard. I really like the way that it turned out. I've got to admit though, the people on tv really make putting it together a lot easier than it actually was for me.
I've also been patching up small spots on the wall and repainting them. You know how after a while of living in a house there are a few dings and dents on the wall? Well, not at our house. I took care of them.
We've been working on our front bathroom. A few days ago I attempted to install a light fixture. At first I wasn't successful and really felt defeated. After spending so much time trying to just get it hung up (once again, it always looks easier on tv), I flicked on the switch and nothing happened. Come to find out, I did hook everything up correctly but the light switch wasn't working properly. My father-in-law helped with that. Now, all is working well.
My mom and I both attempted laying tile in the bathroom. It was the first time ever doing that for either of us. I have to say it turned out pretty good. Grout wasn't too hard either. And even installing the new toilet was somewhat easy, once we got the right connecting pipe. All in all, I say things have been kinda busy around here.
Now the next project will be laying the wood floors in the front big bedroom. It seems like the projects are never ending but my summer (sad to say) is not... It is coming to a quick end! Boohoohoo!
